Robert Wickwar Knox

Robert Wickwar Knox Obituary
Robert Wickwar Knox, born in Watts, CA, May 22, 1923, passed on to his next adventure on November 17, 2015. Bob had just started college, hoping to become a football coach, when "Greetings" arrived from Uncle Sam. The Army sent Bob to Europe after he went through Navy underwater demolition training. Bob landed on Normandy and fought through Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge. Bob seldom talked of his wartime experiences until his trip with Honor Flight, in May, with his very special guardian, Ethan.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sally, son Karl (Cindi) Lasater, step children Vince (Chris) Brashear and Candy (Bob) Van Brunt, and Megan Sanders and
John Sanders, three grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Bob knew no strangers and was a neighborhood fixture with his faithful dog, Chloe
At Bob's insistence, there will be no service. He would tell all to do something they love with someone they love. If so desired, donations can be made in Bob's memory to Honor Flight of Kern County, 8200 Stockdale Hwy. Suite M-10, Bakersfield, CA 93311 or to Optimal Hospice, 1675 Chester Ave. Suite 401, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
Bob's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the Honor Flight volunteers, especially Ethan and his wonderful family and Lori Crown, who convinced Bob to make the trip. They are also grateful to the Optimal Hospice team who helped make Bob's last days peaceful and pain free. A special thank you to special friends and family and an extra special hug to Megan and John for being here.
