ROBERTA ROBINSON COOPER Obituary
Roberta Robinson Cooper was born in Madill, Oklahoma to parents Lewis and Minnie Robinson. In her hometown she met the love of her life, Robert Murl Cooper, and they wed in 1939. In 1944 the couple and their first son moved to Bakersfield where they made their home, built a business, and grew their family. Roberta and Murl enjoyed their life together raising their two sons, spending time with friends and family, and participating in their many decades-long membership in the Columbus Street Baptist Church. After 46 wonderful years together Murl passed away in 1986. Roberta was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She excelled at cooking and baking and was greatly appreciated for her recipes and talents in the kitchen. Roberta loved holidays and family events, and hosted countless incredible gatherings that were filled with such happiness and love. She enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers - especially yellow roses. Roberta appreciated quality time spent reading fiction novels and studying the Bible, which she read daily with devotion and praise for her Lord.
Living over 98 years, Roberta had many friends and family members who preceded her in death but she cherished fond memories of her loved ones, especially those of her late grandson Matthew Cooper, sister and brother-in-law Louise and Karl Salapich, and brother-in-law Harry Peretto. Roberta is survived by her two sons, Robert (Robin) and William (Adriane), sister Ella Mae Peretto, sister-in-law Virginia Cocke, niece Jurhee Ivy, grandchildren Brett Cooper (Connie) and Tenielle Tensley (Jeff), and great-granddaughters Kaitlyn Cooper and Jessica Congdon. Roberta's extended family was very special to her and includes: Robin, Karen, Daniel (Nina), Adam, and Nathan Peretto; Rebecca and Shane Beck (Brittany); Romae, Kyle, and Tyler Hayes; Karl Salapich, Jr.; Gilbert, Sandra, Kim, Karyn, and Kurt Lewis; Tammie, Derek, Cooper, Cash, and Chance Gerecke; and Matt, Melanie, Miller, and Mason Brassfield.
A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Friday, November 18th at 10 am, with graveside service to follow.
Grandma, we loved you so very much and will remember you always.
