Ron Friday was born August 16, 1933, in Bakersfield, CA and passed away peacefully on December 23, 2014. Ron was the youngest of six children born to Bessie and Jacob Friday. Jacob died before Ron was born in 1933 and Bessie passed away in 1937 when Ron was four years old. Ron along with his two sisters and three brothers went to live in Mooseheart Orphanage near Aurora, Illinois.
After graduating from Mooseheart he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Hawley, in 1952. They had three children; Cynthia, Stephen Ronald and Sherrie. Ron earned his B. S. from Northern Illinois University and taught at Mooseheart before moving to Bakersfield in 1960. Ron became a teacher and counselor at Golden State Jr. High School, in the BCSD. He received a Master's from Cal State Bakersfield.
He was a principal at Mettler Elementary in the Tejon Unified School District and a superintendent of the Lakeside School District before going to the Kern County Superintendent of Schools' office. There he worked on the newly developed SISK (Self-insured schools of Kern County) health benefit programs. The University of Southern California awarded Ron the degree of Doctor of Education in August of 1981. On December 27, 1981 Ron married Bonney Bailey Adams. Ron was the owner of KSF Insurance and KSF Travel, affiliated with KSFCU. Ron's three loves were playing golf, sailing and his family.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bill Friday, and sisters Esther Larma and Betty Morris. He is survived by his wife Bonney, brothers Bob Friday (Pogie) Jack Friday (Joan), son Stephen Ronald Friday, daughters Cynthia Schulz (Tom) and Sherrie Mitchell, step-daughter Dianna Kilgore (Robert), nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
