Rose Anna Campas

Obituary Condolences

Rose Anna Campas, 78, longtime resident of Bakersfield, passed away Monday, June 15th, at San Joaquin Community Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Cortez, CO, to Leonard and Theresa Candaleria, Rose was the eighth of thirteen children. Her childhood was spent helping on the family farm and raising her younger siblings. As a teenager, she loved nature and volunteered as a candy striper.
She graduated from Grand Junction High School and joined the United States Army in June 1955. She served her country for 4 years, spending time working at a hospital in Germany. Following her discharge in 1959, she was married and had 4 sons. She worked as a nurse's assistant at Memorial Hospital for over 35 years, until the time of her retirement.
Rose was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Cursillo Community. She kept a beautiful home and could often be found watering her lawn or tending to her plants. She had a great sense of humor, was an avid sports fan, and loved live music and dancing.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Joseph, Jesse and Christine, Julio and Rachel, and Paul and Rawlyn Campas, as well as her 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 6 siblings. The family would like to thank Dr. Stiles, Dr. Lee, and Dr. Quiogue, all of whom took such great care of her, as well as the nursing staff, especially Antonia and Manny. Rose will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, CA.
