Rosemary Moreno Obituary

Rosemary "Pete" Moreno October 10, 1947 - October 23, 2010 After a short battle with lung cancer, Rosemary Moreno rose to Heaven wrapped in the arms of her family on October 23, 2010. Greeting Rosemary in Heaven were her parents, Cayetano and Vicenta Garcia and her brother Danny. Rosemary was devoted to her family; her husband of 42 years, Carlos Moreno, her daughter Mia Moreno, and her son Carlo Moreno and his wife Lori. And her heart was filled with love for her grandchildren Gabrielle, Aaron and Christian. Rosemary's parents nicknamed her "Pete" before she was born, hoping their fourth child would be a boy. But the nickname stuck and she was "Pete" to all who knew her. As a child, Rosemary was the clown of the family, always making her sisters laugh. She worked hard along with her sisters, picking potatoes for spending money and helping her mother clean house, tend laundry and rake leaves. And as a wife, Rosemary continued working hard for her husband and her children. She was a talented hairdresser, leaving her career to care for her family. She provided her family a beautiful home, delicious meals and a garden filled with flowers. Her home was her haven she shared with those she loved. A gracious hostess, she held parties for her family with music, food and dancing in her backyard under the stars. These special times will remain in our hearts always. Rosemary leaves behind her five sisters: Adela Abdul, Penny Garcia, Margaret Ritorto, Aurora Catania and husband Robert, Valentina Garcia and husband Jeff Wiebe. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews Gina and Michael Ritorto, Andrea and Daniel Garcia and many friends and in-laws that loved her. Viewing will be Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Boulevard from 4pm to 8pm with Recitation of the Rosary being held at 6pm. Mass will be performed for Rosemary at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Columbus Avenue. Private burial will follow at a later date. Our family deeply appreciates the love and tenderness shown to Rosemary by her daughter Mia during Rosemary's illness. Mia showed unyielding strength and devotion to her mother, never leaving her mother's side. Our sweet and funny Pete, may Heaven provide you all the peace and beauty you deserve. www.bakersfield.com/obits
