Roxanne Patrice Medrano Ramirez Obituary
Our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister entered into Heaven on December 17, 2014, into the awaiting arms of Jesus after a courageous 10-year battle of multiple illnesses.
Roxanne was born on May 13, 1960, in Bakersfield, CA, to her parents, Pete and Christine Medrano. Roxanne was raised in Delano, CA, where she attended Albany Park, Fremont Jr. High, and Delano High School.
She then moved to Bakersfield, where she became a mother to two children, Christina and Thomas Lamond. Her children blessed her with five beautiful grandchildren, who she considered one of her greatest joys.
Family was everything to Roxanne. Her brother, Peter Medrano, and her sister, Rose Marie Moreland, will miss Roxanne's daily phone calls. No matter how gloomy the day was, she was always able to put a smile on her brother's face and a warm feeling in his heart with her inspirational strength. Rose Marie will miss her laugh, her daily dose of "Roxie-isms," and her "don't tell Mom secrets" that were later discovered she had already told Mom herself.
Roxanne and her mom were two peas in a pod. Her mom became her caregiver during the last year of her life. Every day with Roxanne was a godsend for her mom. She will miss acting silly together, watching movies, swinging together on the patio, and their special dance every Christmas morning. Most of all, she will miss her "Good morning. I love you," and "Good night. I love you."
Roxanne had a special relationship with each of her nieces and nephews. Roxanne is loved beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her father and maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her mother, Christine Nichols; her sister, Rose Marie Moreland (Larry); her brother, Peter Medrano (Anita); her son, Thomas "TJ" Lamond (Sandra); her daughter, Christina Lamond; five grandchildren, Jessica, Julie, Rebecca, Dexter, and Sean; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield CA 93313.
Because of Roxanne's compassion and love for animals, the homeless, and the hungry, we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local homeless or animal shelter. For condolences please visit www.greenlawnmortuaryandcemetery.com.
