Ruby Hagenston Obituary
Last Saturday, November 7, this world lost an amazing woman. Ruby Hagenston was born on July 27, 1926, in Frankston, Texas, to Gilbert Folmar and Mary Ann Phifer. After completing her schooling in Texas, she moved to Bakersfield in 1946, married the love of her life, Al Hagenston, and in 1951, moved to Wasco and raised two boys. Al and Ruby shared a full 45 years before Al passed in 1996. Ruby enjoyed the business and pleasure trips she and Al took over the years to wonderful locations, many times in the company of great friends. She was always on an even keel, and her sense of humor and deep love made hers and Al's marriage truly great.
Ruby was a great golfer, playing Team Play at Stockdale Country Club, and enjoyed the game for many years with Al, as well as others she was close to. Her skills were often paramount to winning tournaments, to the pleasure of her and those she teamed up with. Ruby had many pleasures, including playing a hand of bridge with her good friends at the clubhouse, or painting beautiful pieces of art with her dearest friend, June Hardcastle.
Ruby was blessed with two boys, Kim and Mike, and had many humorous and challenging experiences raising them and giving them the foundation for the good men they have become.
In 2005 Ruby married a longtime family friend, Jack Graham of Bakersfield.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Al; parents, Gilbert and Mary Ann; and seven brothers. Ruby is survived by her sons, Kim and Mike; daughters-in-law, Becky and Mary; grandchildren, Matthew, Drew and wife Jenn, great-grandson Logan, Ali, Ian, and Jillian, all of Bakersfield.
Ruby was truly a blessing to all and will be deeply missed. She will remain in our hearts and our memories always.
The family wishes to thank Ruby's wonderful caregivers at The Gables, and to Hoffmann Hospice for their care and support during the last days of Ruby's life. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make donations to Hoffmann Hospice or an organization of your choice in Ruby's honor.
A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest 2739 Panama Lane.
