Rudy Prendez Obituary
Rudy Prendez 1935 - 2013 On September 20, 2013, while holding his grandson Joey's hand, Rudy saw the face of God. "Absent from the body ... present with the Lord." A Celebration of Rudy Prendez' life will be held on September 26, 2013, 10:00 a.m., at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Ave., Bakersfield, CA, Rev. Roger Spradlin, officiating. Burial to follow at the Kern County Cemetery, Shafter, CA. Rudy was born in Shafter, CA, on December 13, 1935, to Alex and Minnie Prendez. He was their fourth child. He was a faithful member of Valley Baptist Church. He was an active participant in Valley Baptist's Prayer Room Ministry praying weekly for his church family. Rudy married Anna Cota and together they had three children: Denise, Vince, and Valerie. Rudy loved being a Dad. In 2001, Rudy married Ann Churchill, the love of his life. Together God blessed them with many wonderful years of retirement. They loved just being at home together or traveling to favorite locations such as Cambria, CA, and best of all...Hawaii. Rudy was an avid photographer and enjoyed enlarging his digital photos of Hawaiian sunsets, Yosemite's majestic monoliths, along with numerous sights of God's beautiful creation and handiwork. Rudy's greatest passion was his love for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He began his days in daily Bible study and prayer. He would want you to know that the day is approaching "when every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Rudy would encourage each one of you to be sure you are ready. Rudy loved being a husband, Dad, Grandfather, and a Great Grandpa. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife and faithful partner, Ann; daughter Denise (Frank) Rodriguez (Matthew, Moriah), daughter Valerie Salazar (Joey, Annalicia, Joshua, Angelica) Great-grandchildren, Vivian, Olivia, Aleah, Arianna and one to arrive in February; brothers Al (Linda), Ben (Shirley), and Jimmy; sisters Enid and Sylvia; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Minnie Prendez, son Vince Prendez, and sister-in-law Rita Prendez. Rudy's wife and family want to express their sincere appreciation to Hoffmann Hospice for their loving care. Each one of them kept us in their prayers and we thank them for their support. We also thank Dr. Wm. Gilli and Dr. Harold Baer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Valley Baptist Church, Missions or the television ministry. Donations can also be made to Hoffmann Hospice. www.bakersfield.com/obits
