Ruth Tiede Obituary
Jesus, our Lord, Savior, Redeemer and friend, called Ruth Tiede of Bakersfield, home on her 88th birthday and she will celebrate and rejoice in His presence eternally. Ruthie, as some called her, was born in Bakersfield California on December 19, 1925 to Peter P. Koop and Anna Kliewer Koop. Ruth's husband Elbert and sister Marie Winter, are already with our Lord.
Upon graduation from EBHS in 1943, Ruth met her knight in shining armor. Elbert and Ruth were married on January 9, 1944 in the Mennonite Brethren Church of Bakersfield and spent 68 great years together. Soon after marriage, they moved to Long Beach so Dad could work in the Shipyards. WW II relocated them to Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi, for Dad's basic training. Ruth move back to be with the family, once Dad was ordered into combat in Europe. When the war was over, it was time to start a family. To Ruth and Elbert were born three boys, Darrell in 1947, LeRoy in 1951 and Myron in 1952. Once her boys were in school, energetic Ruth went to work and managed various cafeterias in the Bakersfield City School District for 25 years. Our family reaped the benefit of Mom's love for baking as the goodies and family meals were always special. Ruth loved music and played both piano and violin, and because she had a song in her heart she sang in choirs and small groups.
In addition to "My Three Sons," Ruth leaves brother Walter Koop, nine grandchildren, Shawn and Matt Tiede, David and James Tiede, and Anneliese Tiede Darling, Michael and Ryan Tiede, Kevin and Kelly Berg and 15 great-grandchildren.
She also leaves the gracious, loving and attentive staff at Pacifica Senior Living. The community of faith at Valley Baptist Church, Heritage Bible Church and various mission outreaches will miss her prayers and faithful support. To Hoffman Hospice we give thanks for compassionate care of Mom.
Ruth placed her God-given faith in Jesus and she showed Christ's love by service to others. She did her utmost to do justly, love kindly and walk humbly and thankfully with her God. He has graciously given her physical life, abundant life and eternal life, as she rests in our Lord. So, while we greatly miss Ruth, we celebrate a life well lived and the godly example she leaves as a treasured heritage. We were blessed to have had Ruth for so many years as one of God's amazing gifts. Our family gives thanks, "For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations." (Psalms 100:5)
