Samuel James Towery Obituary
Samuel James Towery January 29, 1989 - April 23, 2013 A BEAUTIFUL LIFE Samuel James Towery passed away on April 23, 2013. Sam was a talented young man, appreciating many things in his life. He appreciated sincerity, yet he loved sarcasm. Sam had a keen wit, exercising it in both endearing and awkward situations. He used his "Sammy smile" to tell you that he was "in" on the joke, or just to assure you that things were fine. Sam loved to study both science and nature. He loved writing songs, recording and performing in the band Rivermaker. He enjoyed painting, reading and writing poetry. Sam loved his wife Melsie. She brought peace and a sense of purpose into his life. He loved his best friend Austin, as he loved his other close friends and family. For those who truly knew him, he will be with us for the rest of our lives. Sam's talent for poetry and song lyrics began early. He wrote this poem in 2000 / 5th grade: OCTOBER SUNSET October skies; the orange sunset; the crisp leaves landing, softly. Like stiff brown feathers, gently falling. Winter mornings, sun shining through the trees. Fresh snow, no tracks, just crunching beneath your feet. Spring with morning dew, flowers all around you. Petals falling, bees are buzzing, and the birds chirping in the tress. Summer days - no worries. Summer nights - all stories, but autumn's coming and soon we'll have an October sunset. Sam was very intelligent and sought answers to questions few of us think about. Sam is survived by his mother Carole, father Greg, sister Kristyn and brother Kyle. He is survived by his paternal grandmother Phyllis and maternal grandparents Ruth and Pat Williams, many aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss his humor and outlook on life. The family wishes to thank Chris, Matt, and Joan for their help and support at this time. It was Sam's wishes to have his ashes scattered at sea. A memorial service in honor of Sam is being planned for family and close friends. Wishes of condolences have been tremendous, and his wife and family greatly appreciate the out-pouring of love. Rest in peace son, this journey is complete. www.bakersfield.com/obits
