Sandra Jean Epp passed peacefully with family at her bedside Sunday April 10, 2016 at the age of 76. A Bakersfield resident for over 25 years, talented artist and crafter, she also enjoyed reading, golf, gardening and travel, but cared most about family and friends. You may have seen her around town with the license plate frame that reads "Grandma's my name, Spoilin's my game!", and you could never escape a visit without a "Group Hug!" She also loved her time with the girls at the gym... Sandy was born in Oklahoma in 1939 to Raymah and Jeanne Carter. The family (older brother Allen, and younger sister Janice) relocated to Southern California in 1943 when their father was transferred with the Army Air Corp. Younger brother David was born after the family settled in Monrovia, CA. where Sandy graduated High School. She earned a Dental Assistant Certificate from Pasadena City College in 1959 and also worked for many years in the grocery store industry. Married to Leland Epp in 1961, they were to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary on April 15. Together they raised daughter Christy (Epp) Velasquez of Bakersfield and son Ron Epp of Visalia. Sandy is survived by her husband and children, 5 grandchildren, her two brothers, and an extended family too numerous to list! They're all appreciative of the care and compassion given in her battle against cancer and are especially thankful for the truth she recently acknowledged; Acts 26:18. Service followed by reception will be held at the Olive Drive Campus of Valley Baptist Church, 5500 Olive Drive, Bakersfield CA 93308 at 10AM Monday April 18, 2016.
