Sharon Kay (Miller) Carlson July 17, 1938 - June 23, 2012 Memorial services will be held at the Mill Creek Church, 1660 S Street on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. for Sharon Carlson, 73, who passed away June 23, 2012 in a local hospital. Rev Don Shelton will officiate. Sharon was born July 17, 1938, in Oxnard, California. She married Gayle W. Carlson on August 29, 1959. Sharon attended East High School Class of 1956. She then went on to attend Bakersfield College and Fresno State University graduating with a B.A. in Education. Mom was especially proud of being part of The Women's Club, P.E.O., Assistance League of Bakersfield and many other charitable organizations, as well as a long life member of the Mill Creek Christian Church (formerly First Christian Church). Sharon is survived by her sons Brad and wife Lori, Greg and wife Ana; grandchildren Cassie, John and wife Kelly, Andy, Blaine, Kaylee and great-grandchildren Anthony and Kaiden, and her brother Ronnie Miller and wife Linda, and sister-in-law Twilla Klassen. She was preceded in death by her husband Gayle, and parents Gerald and Mildred Miller, and her in-laws Murl and Ruth Carlson. Mom passed away after a brief bout of cancer. The illness came suddenly catching relatives and friends off guard. When mom was not on a trip, she could be found playing bridge, bunko, bowling, snow skiing, water skiing, playing dominoes, RVing, gardening, going to the movies, attending plays, fishing or visiting with friends and family. Yes, mom would never sit still. She lived life to the fullest! Mom will be remembered by her outgoing disposition, making friends everywhere she went. Mom had an easy laugh and a great sense of humor. Her love and devotion for her family was overwhelming even to the end. She was always willing to help anyone with anything that needed to be done. Mom was a generous and compassionate woman. Our lives will never be the same without her. She will be tremendously missed by her many life long friends and loving family.
