Sherrie Lee (Wilson) Venzor Obituary
Sherrie Lee Venzor (Wilson) July 23 1941 - July 29 2013 Sherrie Lee Wilson was born in Huntington Park, California to Thomas B. and Esther Wilson. She passed away after succumbing to an ongoing illness which weakened her immune system. Sherrie moved to Bakersfield in her youth and graduated from Kern Union High (BHS) in 1959. She married Louis P. Venzor in Hawaii where he was stationed in the Navy and they lived there until Louis completed his service. After Louis left the Navy they moved to Los Angeles. In 1962 their son Phillip was born. The family re-located to Bakersfield and both Sherrie and Louis went back to school and received teaching credentials from Cal State Bakersfield. She worked for Kern County Schools as a special education teacher and spent the majority of her 25 years teaching at Sunset School. After retiring she and Louis both enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling to Las Vegas to visit their son, Phillip. Sherrie was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, her brother, Harry Wilson, sister, Alyce Estrada and her parents. Sherrie is survived and missed by her son, Phillip Venzor (Andrea), her loving sister, Hazel Noe, her many nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved cats and dogs. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to her favorite charities: The Bakersfield rescue mission, 821 E 21st street, Alphacanine.org or SPCA. Greenlawn Southwest will hold her services on Wednesday, August 7th at 10 am. Reception to follow. www.bakersfield.com/obits
