Shirlee Mae Burt passed away peacefully June 10 at Gentiva Hospice in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Bakersfield, California to Richard Phillip Burt and Hilda Evelyn Whiting Burt. She graduated Bakersfield High School (Kern County) and attended Bakersfield College. She lived in California, Alaska, Virginia and Texas. She enjoyed her last eight years of life peacefully in Boerne, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Powell of Orange, VA in 2008 and her brother William Burt, of Bakersfield, California, in 2013.
She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Hargis of Bakersfield, California, by her three Children, Kally Kern Elton of Boerne, Texas, Kelly Kern of Front Royal, VA and Richard Kern of Anchorage, AK and by her 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Shirlee was known for her creative design and tireless development of exquisite porcelain dolls, many of which received awards at National fairs and exhibits. She was praised for dedication and inspirational teaching of Sunday school for forty years for her Church.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on June 18, 2016 all over the world. Memorial donations may be made to The United Breast Cancer Society.
