Shirley Ann Padgett Obituary
Shirley Ann Padgett January 30, 1942 - August 3, 2012 A celebration of life will be held in the Greenlawn Chapel, 3700 River Blvd. Saturday August 11, 2012 at 10:00 for Shirley A. Padgett. Shirley was born to Roy R. Bullock, Sr. and Mary Alice Baker in Bakersfield, California. Growing up in Bakersfield she attended Longfellow, Noble, Washington JR High, and East Bakersfield High School. On December 7, 1972 she married James M. Padgett, Sr. and they combined their hearts and families. Family was very important to Shirley. She was the biggest cheerleader for her kids baseball and softball games. Many of those teams were coached by James. Shirley opened her home as a daycare to her First Christian Church family so she could stay at home and raise her family while helping others. As her kids got older she began her career at Kern Medical Center. She worked there for over 23 years before retiring earlier this year. Shirley enjoyed attending her Grandchildren's sporting and church events. As a nine year season ticket holder for the Bakersfield Condors she enjoyed attending the games to yell at the referee for bad calls and cheering on her "Boys". She was preceded in death by James her Husband of over 29 years, her parents Roy Sr. and Mary Alice, and her sisters Mary Lucille Stiner and Martha Jane Sterling. She is survived by her brother Roy Bullock, Jr., Sister Carolyn Sue Hartsfield-Hansen, her cousin Ethel O'Neal, Step-sons James M. Padgett, Jr. and his wife Debbie, Tom Padgett and his wife Mindy, Jeff Padgett and his wife Lisa, Michael Padgett and his wife Stacy, her Sons Bob Soto and his wife Lupe, Richard Rickel, Don Rickel and his wife Stephanie, her Daughter Terri Lundy and her Husband John, and 15 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Glenwood Gardens and Hoffmann Hospice for their help in caring for Shirley. A visitation for Family and friends will be held Friday August 10, 2012 at Greenlawn 4:00pm - 7:00pm.
