Stanley (Stan) Eugene Henry, born April 19, 1935 in Newton, KS and passed September 9, 2014 in Bakersfield, CA.
Stan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judy Henry of Bakersfield; children Stan Henry, Jr. of Cathedral City, CA, daughter Torey Stanfill of Corona, CA, son John French of Bakersfield, CA, daughter Melanie Sheff of Hemet, CA; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Stan was a lifelong resident and member of many community and volunteer organizations based in Bakersfield. Stan retired from Pacific Bell Phone Company after 30 years of service and was a Reserve Sheriff's Deputy with the Kern County Sheriff's Department for 38 years. Stan was deputized in 1970 and held many positions within the KCSD as a Reserve Deputy and attained the rank of Commander. Stan was also a member of the KCSD Mounted Posse. It was with the sheriff's department that Stan felt most at home helping to serve his community and give back to the city and county that he loved. Stan was a long-time member of the Bakersfield Chapter of the International Footprint Association and East Bakersfield Lions Club.
Memorial services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary on Saturday September 13, 2014 at 10am. Graveside services to follow immediately afterward.
