Stanley James Mosley, Sr. was born on May 9, 1951, in Fresno, California, to Stanzer James and Algie Lee Mosley. The family moved to Bakersfield in 1953. Stan attended McKinley and Emerson Schools in the Bakersfield City School District. He graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1970 and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1970-1973. Stanley attended Trinity Church as a youth, and he enjoyed singing and acting in church plays; as an adult he was faithful in attending Church until his illness. He served on the Board of Directors for Mission of Kern and he attended First Presbyterian Church.
While in the service, he was promoted to E5 Classification and received an Honorable Discharge. He served his tour of duty in Vietnam. He became a police officer in 1973 and worked for the Bakersfield Police Department. He was promoted to the position of Detective. After leaving the police department, he started his own Private Investigation Services. In 1975, he met and married the love of his life, Valerie Strong Mosley and from this union two sons were born, Stanley Jr. and Justin. Although, Stan and Valerie's marriage didn't last, their friendship remained.
Stan is preceded in death by his father Stanzer J. Mosley in 2010; and his son Stanley James Mosley, Jr. in 2012. He leaves to cherish his memory, son Justin (Aryana) Mosley, granddaughter Taliyah Mosley; Mother Algie Mosley; Brother McKinley (Claire) Mosley; sisters Shirley Ray and Carolyn (Donnie) Womack; niece and God Daughter Didi Womack; nephew Michael Mosley and niece Melanie Mosley; niece Melissa Ray; nephew Gary Jr. (Lakesha), their children Kaleigh, Isaiah; nephew Nick (Janice) Ray, their daughter Allyson; nephew James G. Ray his son Garrison; Aunt Bettie and Uncle Robert Mosley; cousins Anthony (Dawn) Mosley, William, Julissa Mosley; Stephanie (Paul) Bender, David, Hope, and Faith; Camille (Sean) Moran daughter Reille of Bakersfield; cousins the Grimes' family. Also, many more Uncles, Aunts and Cousins who are not from Bakersfield including Stan's "God Mother" and Aunt Tommie and Uncle Larry Foote of Fresno. He loved you all, there are just too many to name.
Stanley was very precious to us and we loved him and showed our love to him to the last. We believe he is at peace and in the presence of the Lord.
Public Viewing will be held at Rucker's Mortuary, Monday April 21, 2014 from 3:00-5:00 pm and a Private Viewing will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. , Trinity Chapel Church of God in Christ 1028 "O" Street, Bakersfield, CA 93304 and officiated by Pastor Willie Hollins. Interment immediately following, National Cemetery 30338 East Bear Mountain Blvd, Arvin CA 93203.
