Stewart Verrill Folger October 13,1919 - November 13, 2010 Stewart Verrill Folger, 91, passed away November 13, 2010 in Bakersfield, CA. Stew was born on October 13, 1919 in Flushing, New York to Alpheus and Hazel (Cobb) Folger. Stewart was delivered by a family member Rupert Folger M.D. Stew earned his Merchant Marine certification as a Seaman in 1938. When World War II began Stew enlisted in the Army. After being trained as radio technician he was assigned to the Army Air Corps Crash Boat Base in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. As a Sergeant he was assigned as a skipper of P-575 a twin engine crash boat. When Stew left the Army he settled in Southern California, where he started FD Contours, a machine tool company. He owned this company well in to his eighties. Stew married Mildred Campbell in November of 1963. One of their many activities was competing in dance roller skating. Stew and Mille also loved to travel, as long as it was on bicycles. They took many vacations including biking across Russia in their seventies. They continued to ride through out California and the western United States. Stew was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Campbell) Folger. He is survived by his children: Kathy Picco (Hemet), Steve Campbell (Tehachapi), Jack Campbell (Fort Collins, Co), Suzanne O'Connor (Huntington Beach), Pat Folger ( Anaheim). Stew's Grandchildren include: Kathy's children: Karen Toole, Mitch Warrenburg, Gia Pena. Steve's Children: Nicolle Cooper, Cory Campbell, Kristofer Campbell, Cooper Campbell. Jack's children: Jordan Campbell, Nicholas Campbell and Kaili Campbell. Susanne's children: Joshua Petraitis. Pat's children: Christine Owen, Elizabeth Folger, Amber Whitaker, and Ginny Folger. Great grandchildren include: Tasha, Timothy, Amanda, Michael, Marshall, Raelynne, Christina, Mitchie, Erin, Christian, Joseph, Jillian, Russell, Brady, Andrew, Graci, Victoria, Ainsley, Gabriella, Jainan , Seth, Cheyenne, Bailey, Jacob, Job, Jeremy. Great-great grandchildren include: Ian, Ethan, Jordyn, Isabella, Sienna. The Family is extremely thankful to the caring staff of Emeritus Assisted Living and Memory Care, and Odyssey Hospice. Their loving care helped make our father's final years happy and peaceful. Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. Bakersfield, CA, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2010.
