Susan Sweet Sue Fallgatter Obituary
Susan "Sweet Sue" Fallgatter October 28, 1951 - March 19, 2013 Susan "Sweet Sue" Fallgatter, who was a joy and treasure to her family and friends, passed away into the welcoming arms of her loving God on March 19, 2013. Susie (Deaton) was born in Bakersfield and graduated from West High School in 1969. She married Bruce Powers and they had their son Wesley in 1987. She spent forty years working in the dental field. Susie liked to say that, when she met her husband Johnny in 1992, she knew that she had met the love of her life. The smile on her face and in her eyes when she looked at John or talked about him was pure love. When John and Susie met, her son Wesley was 4 and John was the father of five boys, Chach, Joe, Austin, Trent and Steven, ages 6 to 12. Six boys, really seven - you must count John as one of the boys...OMG! Her friends and family thought she had lost her senses when she took on the role of mother to 6 rambunctious boys, but she never hesitated. She dove in and through many ups and downs (and God and everyone else knows there were many), she persevered, and through it all maintained a warm, happy and stable home for John and their six boys. Susie loved to cook, barbecue, entertain gangs of teenagers on Taco and Pizza Nights, and go to parties, especially with her many friends in West Rotary. But her family and her faith were the center of her existence. Like all grandmothers, some of the happiest days of her life were when she got to visit with her five grandchildren. During her last days in the hospital, Susie was thrilled to be able to talk face to face, via the computer, with her 8-month-old granddaughter, Harley. Susie's strong spirit, patience, courage, and faith, combined with her joyful attitude and love of life, left an unforgettable impression and truly inspired all who knew her. When first faced with the news that she suffered from a life threatening illness, Susie demonstrated an unbelievable will to live that carried her through 16 years of almost constant medical challenges. Through it all, she managed to keep an amazingly positive attitude, and her loving and nurturing temperament earned her the nickname "Sweet Sue". Susie leaves behind her husband John, aka "Jumpin John"; son Wesley Powers (wife Jessica and granddaughter Harley), sons Chach, Joe, Austin, Trent, Steven, and grandchildren Kye and Cabe (mother Shannon Sparks), and Lynzee (mother Morgan Allen), Macy (mother Sarah Barnes), her brother, Alec Deaton (wife Sally), her sister Debbie Mazzeo (husband Paul), step-sister Lori Holdsworth (husband Derek), step-brother Kim Webster, her father Dale Deaton, and too many wonderful nieces and nephews to mention. Preceding her in death are her mother and step-dad, Ilene and Charles Webster. A special thanks to Dr. William Baker, Dr. Ravi Patel, Dr. Sam Singh and their excellent staffs whose outstanding and compassionate care gave Susie many extra years which blessed us all. At Susie's request, a private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susie's name to the . www.bakersfield.com/obits
