Tessie Hunt Obituary

Tess went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Cabool, Missouri to George & Latisha Hafner on January 21, 1921 and was the youngest of 8 children. She moved to Taft, CA with 2 of her sisters in 1942, where she met the love of her life, E.D. Hunt (Edward) and they married on June 30, 1943. With Edward off to war Tess settled down into her life as the consummate homemaker.

She was a member of Daybreak Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Stars Bakersfield Chapter #125 for over 50 years.

Tess was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward. Her parents George & Latisha Hafner, sisters Dola Green (Ralph) from Missouri, Ola Cox (Ralph), Lillian Norman (Homer) from Taft, CA and her brothers Roy, Burzey, Deck and Charlie Hafner, from Missouri.

She is survived by her daughters Pat New (Gary) of Mexico and Pam Powell (Stan), of Bakersfield, CA, grandchildren Alicia Hudnall (Matt) of Bakersfield, Kyle Handy of San Diego, Charisse Whitney (Aaron) of Fresno. Great-grandchildren Mason, Caylee & Emma Hudnall of Bakersfield, and Aiden Whitney of Fresno, and her special niece Barbara Gilbreath (John) of Lake Stevens, WA.

Her unshakeable faith in God served her well in life, and she never missed the opportunity to tell everyone she met of God's love and his promise of eternal life. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Greenlawn Funeral Home Southwest.
