Thelma Virginia Brown Obituary
Thelma Virginia Brown (Tillie) January 22, 1924 - August 25, 2013 Tillie was born 01/22/1924 in Los Angeles, CA. She passed away with her family by her side on 08/25/2013. Good news for all who knew her as the bright and cheerful, square dancer, horseback rider, motorcycle rider, water skier and bowler. She is twirling her skirts and laughing and bringing cheer to all her family and friends who have passed from this world before her. She told us often that she has a good life and that she is grateful to all her family and friends for helping her to have all the wonderful experiences that made her so happy and so fulfilled. Tillie grew up in Los Angeles and upon graduating from High School she became a Telephone Operator during the War Era, in which she met the love of her life and married. During their 50 years of marriage they moved to Bakersfield in 1959 where they raised their family. She went to work for Sears as a sewing teacher and later as a seamstress. She was always busy. If not raising her kids, then she would paint or play the organ. In her later years you could find her reading or crocheting and, of course, bowling. But she loved the beach. She loved to camp and watch the sunset at the beach. Actually Mom loved camping. She never turned down a trip to the lake or the beach. She also was a member of the Retired Teamsters Local 87 in which she enjoyed to the very end. Tillie leaves behind a sister Elvira and was a beloved mother to four children, one son Michael Brown and three daughters Sandra and David Millwood, Diana and Ray Shackelford and Kathy Friedle. She also was a treasured grandmother to eight and great grandmother to twelve. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and of course her precious Molly. She is dancing in the halls of Heaven now with her mom and looks forward to seeing all of you again. Tillie will be extremely missed by all that knew her. Celebration of Life will be held September 14, 2013 at the Parker Ranch, 19687 Mill Canyon Rd. Frazier Park, CA 93225 at 1:00 p.m. Please bring a lawn chair. www.bakersfield.com/obits
