Thyron Rhoades July 31, 1926 - September 9, 2012 Thyron (Red) Rhoades, a true Cornhusker, was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska on July 31, 1926 to Cecil and Viola Rhoades. He graduated from East Bakersfield High School and enlisted in the Army. He was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Renate. They were married for 37 years until she passed away in 1991. Red surveyed for the Armed Forces, State of California, Kern County and lastly for Rickett, Ward, Delmarter & Deifel. He passed away on September 9, 2012 at home with his family close by, after a long battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease. He loved his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He served as a lay Pastor for many years. He had a passion to teach the Word of God and led many into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Red is survived by his son Danny (Marta), daughter Barbara Jaime (Eddie), grandchildren Terry, Janell (Evan), Matthew, Andrew, Jacob, Zachary, his great grandson, William and numerous nieces and nephews. Red was preceded in death by his wife Renate, his son Kenneth and his parents Cecil and Viola as well as his siblings Mel and Darlene. Visitation for Red will be at Greenlawn Mortuary on River Blvd. on Thursday, September 13 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Services will be in the Chapel at Greenlawn Mortuary on Friday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Ken Souers will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his name to Hoffman Hospice or the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County. www.bakersfield.com/obits
