Born in Ansley, Louisiana, Tillie was the sixth of eight children of Riley and Grace Hamm. The family moved to Bakersfield in 1937. Following high school, Tillie married Charles Lew Resley, who preceded her in death in 1990. Throughout her life, Tillie possessed great clarity of thought, intellect and a strong spirit. She was also an avid gardener, reader, cook and a strategic bridge player.
Tillie served for many years as the box office manager at the Bakersfield Convention Center and provided extensive years of volunteer service for the Guild House as a head cook and pastry chef. For 57 years, she was a treasured member of a bridge group that evolved from East High School girlfriends and later included neighborhood ladies. She belonged to the Sigma Chapter Phi Epsilon Phi and was a member of the Bell Choir at First United Methodist Church.
Tillie was preceded in death by her siblings, Riley Jr., Robert and Barney Hamm, as well as her sister, Mary Hoggatt and son-in-law, Marvin Dachtler.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Racicot, Pamela Dachtler, Michael Resley; grandchildren: Nicholas Dachtler, Steven Racicot, Katharine (Sean) Dye, and Megan (David) Bynum, as well as her great-grandchildren, Tanner Dye, Rivers and August Bynum.
