Tony Albert Compagnoni September 12, 1918 - November 5, 2012 Tony Albert Compagnoni, 94, passed away November 5th, 2012 at home on his farm amongst the comfort of his family. As the esteemed patriarch of the Compagnoni family, Tony dedicated his entire lifetime to farming. Born September 12, 1918 in Bakersfield, CA, Tony grew up and lived the duration of his existence on the family farm where he plowed fields, baled hay and raised numerous livestock. After graduating from Kern Union High School, he married the love of his life, Marie Couto, and raised three lovely daughters. Tony had a passion for classic cars, creating new things out of old, and playing the violin on special holidays. He was an accomplished metal art welder, and won several awards for his whimsical works. He will be remembered for his iron handshake, the sincere love he had for his family and his lifelong devotion to the farm. Tony is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Elaine Escalante (Daniel), Andrea Wright (Jack), and Linka Chapman (Tim); grandchildren, Minka Gantenbein, Tisa Wright, Anthony Escalante, David Escalante, Chelsea Elliott, Matthew Escalante, Ce`leigh Chapman and Caitlin Chapman; and 9 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, November 11th from 12pm-4pm at Greenlawn on River Blvd. A memorial service will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church on Monday, November 12th at 10:30am. The family would like to express their gratitude to optimal hospice and caregivers J.R., Sid and especially Gina for the extraordinary care they provided.
