Tony Rubash

Tony Rubash Obituary
Tony passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013 after being able to spend a great Christmas with much of his family. Tony was born on April 13, 1933 in Dow, Oklahoma, the eleventh of 14 children to parents Tony and Lavina Rubash. After proudly serving in the United States Army, Tony began his career as a meat cutter in Wickenburg, Arizona. During his time there, Tony became a father to Bret, Starlla, and Tania. In 1973, he moved to the Central Coast of California. It was there that he met his future bride, Lou Ellen Gregory. They were married in 1985 and moved to Bakersfield. Together, Tony and Lou Ellen travelled countless miles, visiting many different states in their motorhome. They also had a cabin in Pine Flat where they hosted family reunions and spent many happy hours. They loved taking long walks on the beach together, collecting seashells. Tony always enjoyed woodcrafting and watching old Western movies. Over the last four years he spent much of his time riding on his boat, three-wheeled bike and greeting neighbors from his patio at Riverlakes, where Tony earned the title "Riverlakes Greeter."
Tony is survived by the love of his life and wife of 28 years, Lou Ellen Rubash; brother, Dan Rubash and wife, Tiny, of Lake Mead, AZ; sister-in-laws, Babe Rubash of Wickenburg, AZ, Helen Neal of Delano and Virgie Neal of Bakersfield, CA; son, Bret Rubash of Wickenburg, AZ; daughter, Starlla Hudgens of Arroyo Grande, CA; daughter, Tania Johnson and husband, Mark, of Benton, AR; stepchildren, Kelvin and Kathy Gregory, John and Karen Gregory, and Lori and Ron Mariani; grandchildren, Bret and Brandon Rubash, Brandi Silveira, Cody Hudgens, Shane, Blake and Luke Johnson, Christian Gregory, Becky and husband Bob Harris, Ryan and Spencer Gregory, Michael and wife Tanya, Matthew and wife Mara, and Gregory Mariani and seven great-grandchildren.
