Tony S. Garcia Obituary
Tony S. Garcia embarked on his journey to join the Lord, surrounded by his loving family on Friday July 10th 2015.
Born September 5th 1943, the Bakersfield native attended Lincoln grade and middle schools while becoming a proud BHS graduate in 1961. The following year he married his true love of more than 52 years, Consuelo Morin. Over the course of his enduring marriage, he welcomed the birth of his two children, Gina and Antonio. Through the years, his passions included his love of bowling, playing pool and New Year's Eve dances, enjoying numerous family get-togethers, relishing his time in the kitchen, his faithful companion in the yard, Sweetie and the frequent jaunts to the casino. His greatest passion, other than the family he provided for, was his profession. Hard working, dedicated and intelligent, his work came naturally to him. Whether that was as just a worker in the field, testing oil separators or later as an Area Manager overseeing a large region of Los Angeles, he was born to work in the Petroleum Industry and the numerous workers he mentored continue to serve his legacy.
Preceding him in death - his mother and father; Sereviana and Antonio Garcia, his brothers Bill Garcia, Santos Garcia and his sisters Antonia Cervantes and Felez Padilla.
He is survived by his wife Consuelo, his daughter, Gina Mendez and her husband Larry and their two children; Monica and Larry, his son Antonio and his wife Heather and their children; Anthony, Alexandria and Greysen, his sister Jenny Terrasas and her husband Calistro, his sister Jacinta Henslee and his brother Manuel Garcia and his wife Lydia along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to Milo Morin and Julio Ortiz who became his brothers not only by marriage, but also because of the love and respect they shared for one another. A special thank you to the staff at Memorial Hospital who took care of him and did their best to keep him among us for just a bit longer.
A memorial will be held Tuesday July 21st at 10:00 a.m. at St Francis of Assisi church.
