Val Gene Hunter Sr. Obituary
On January 10, 2015, Val went from my arms to Gods in the mountains he loved.
He was born October 14, 1936 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His family moved to the Fresno area, where he graduated from Clovis High School in 1955. He was a proud Marine and served his country well. He spent his professional career in Sales at Summers Furniture and Penney's Home Store.
In 2000, he and family moved to Oakhurst, where they took care of his and Ida's Mom's. Val opened a shop on Highway 41 featuring coins and collectables until his health forced him to close.
Val was Past President of the Bakersfield Bowling Association and Past Worthy President of Eagles Aerie #93
He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Pauline Hunter; Sister Patricia Hunter-Muncy, son Val Hunter II and Granddaughter Samantha Haskell.
He is survived by his soul mate and wife of 35 years, Ida Hunter; daughters Michele Valdez (Chris); Yvette Haskell (Willie), grandchildren, Kevin, Nicholas, Sean, Frankie and Caroline. Three Great Grandchildren, Rylee, Kaylee and Addison.
Memorial service will be Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church on Highway 41 in Oakhurst, California.
