Verna Mae Dietze April 24, 1933 - May 16, 2012 Verna entered into her eternal rest on Wednesday, May 16, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Verna was born to Jack and Dorothy Way in San Pedro, California. She met her husband, Walt, on a blind date and they began nearly sixty one years of marriage in July, 1951. In those years, many moves took them around the state, but they kept coming back to Bakersfield. She is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Walt Dietze; her children Randolph, Blake, Diana, and Karl, and their spouses, Debbie, Kerry, Patrick, and Susie; her brother, Michael; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Verna loved her Lord Jesus and was a devoted member of St. Paul's Anglican Parish. Her great pride and joy was her family, and she poured her life into them. Her freezer and refrigerator were always full of everyone's favorites, and nothing made her happier than hosting a dinner for the whole family or throwing a party for friends. She loved to dance and rarely a day went by when you wouldn't find her in her chair with some kind of puzzle in her hands. She is missed by many and has left an enduring legacy of love. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Parish at the corner of 17th and B Streets. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Anglican Foundation of Kern County, 4208 Rosedale Highway #302 Box 161, Bakersfield, California 93308. www.bakersfield.com/obits
