Verner Garvin Graves Obituary
Vern was born in Oklahoma and came to Californa about 1945. He married Virginia Chavez June 20, 1958, at the Oildale Church of Christ, where he would serve faithfully as a deacon and elder years later.
He served 4 years in the US Navy, 2 of which were in Japan. Virginia followed 6 months later and first baby, Mary Jane was born, there in 1959. Three children were added to the family Norma Jean, Charles Joseph and Betty Jo.
He worked for Standard Stations, Tosco Refinery and Abate-A-Weed, where he learned his trade. He had his own business for several years. We lived in Rosedale for 40 years. Vern had a massive stroke.
He leaves his wife, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, also brother Dale and sister Shirley, plus many in-laws, neices and nephews.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m., Church of Christ, 2912 North Chester.
