Vernon Sitton Obituary
After a long courageous battle with cancer, Vernon entered into his Heavenly home on January 7, 2015 at the age of 68.
Vernon was born November 18, 1946 to Earl and Elva Sitton in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He was raised in Gentry, Arkansas and graduated from Gentry High School in 1964.
Vernon enlisted in the Air Force in 1966. Upon completion of basic training, he married his best friend and the love of his life Carmel Benson on August 25, 1966. He was stationed at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, Arizona.
After completing his service in the Air Force, Vernon and Carmel moved to Bakersfield, California in May of 1969. He was a member of Carpenter's Union Local 743 for 45 years. He worked for Colombo Construction Company for 26 years. After retiring he ran his own business, Sitton Inspection Services for 6 years.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carmel; daughter Randye Rogers and her husband Steven; son Jason Sitton and his wife Jana; grandchildren Jacob, Jantzen, Nicholas, Baylee, Hailey and Madison; sister LoVetta Moore and her husband James; sister Barbara Fant and brother Dale Sitton.
Vernon loved Dodger baseball and he was an avid fan. He also enjoyed fishing, wood working projects, camping and traveling. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Vernon had a great sense of humor and a kind and loving nature. He was a wonderful husband, father, papa, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 East Bear Mountain Boulevard, Arvin, California.
