Vesta Walck Obituary
Vesta was born in Enid Oklahoma to Duard and Mary Deeds and was the oldest of three children. She spent much of her childhood in Bakersfield, CA where she graduated from North High School in 1960.
She married her high school sweetheart Vern, June 24, 1960. They were married almost 51 years when Vern passed away in April 2011. Vesta was well known locally as an artist using both oils and water colors in her paintings, which were exhibited at numerous shows and events. She taught classes in painting for the Kern County School District and gave classes for senior citizens. She also enjoyed reading the Bible, attending her Church and was always interested in the needs and concerns of others. Vesta worked for many years at Bakersfield College as Equipment Manager for women's athletics before beginning her retirement in 2011. She was a loving wife and mother and a warm and generous friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son Vincent, her sister Sam Gilmer (Tim) of Oregon, her brother Mel Deeds of Colorado, stepfather Curley Meeks, her sisters-in-law Gladys Bobbitt of Texas, Leota Woods (Bud) of Lafayette, CA and her brother-in-law Ken Walck (Dianne) of Bakersfield and numerous nieces and nephews.Memorial Service 2/27/2014: 1 PM Coronado Baptist Church, 516 Norris Rd., Bakersfield.
