Vincent Lee Armendariz Obituary
bakersfield.com/obits Vincent Lee Armendariz February 16, 1952 - July 31, 2012 In the summer of my life came along the most wonderful man that I was able to call my husband. We mourn as well as savor the life of Vincent Lee Armendariz; he was 60 years at passing. Born in Fort Ord, CA on February 16, 1952 to Rudolpho and Patricia Armendariz, and eventually a family of six siblings: Robert Armendariz, Terry Murray, Cheryl Lopez, Anthony Armendariz, Kimberly Armendariz and Jackie Armendariz. He had one marriage to Judy Armendariz in the month of February 22 years ago. They lived together for 10 years before being joined in marriage and the funny story was that they never could remember the exact date or year as was after 10 years of being together it just was not that important, being together was what was important. Vincent graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1970. His father was part of the traditional Kern County cotton working families and Vincent held close to the tradition. He worked in the Cotton Industry with the majority of his end years working for Bakersfield Cotton Warehouse as a forklift driver. If you knew Vincent, you would know how dedicated he was to his job and the bond that he had with his co-workers. He enjoyed collecting any and everything, loved his Harleys and restoring his old Chevy. Best of all he enjoyed his children, Dennie Gattis and Kimberly Burnett and his grandchildren, Breanna Burnett, Devin Gattis, Kaitlyn Deatherage, Haley and Delanie Gattis and was excited about the new baby grandson Brayden Gattis. He was known for being the BBQ King and enjoyed cooking for friends and family. He found pleasure in making people laugh and enjoy life. Many a time he would twirl around his sisters at one of the family gatherings or entertain them by playing his drums. Nieces, nephews, brothers and sister-in-law, cousins and his Aunt Tina and Uncle Jim were a true enjoyment for Vincent. He had a colorful life full of colorful friends and will leave a large gap at his passing. There was not a person that he knew that he did not touch their life in a special way. Viewing will be held in lieu of services at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Tim Murray. A memorial fund has been established at Bank of America in the name of Armendariz Family Memorial Trust. We ask in lieu of flowers, that donations be made. Vincent was an AMERICAN, heritage of Native Indian, and he was a GREAT Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother. For additional information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200.
