Vivian Earlene Blanton

08/13/1936 - 02/28/2015 Obituary
Earlene was born in Oklahoma to Marion and Christine Greenlee. The family moved to Modesto, California prior to Earlene's tenth birthday. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Bakersfield. Earlene grew up in East Bakersfield and graduated from East Bakersfield H.S. Soon after high school she married Donald Keith Blanton. They remained husband and wife until Don's death in May of 2014.
Don and Earlene lived in several cites in California as Don progressed in his banking career. Earlene worked in banking also for a time, but retired many years ago to be a homemaker. They eventually moved to Palm Springs, and later Palm Desert. They moved back to Bakersfield last year to be nearer their family and due to health concerns, but Earlene left her heart in the California desert. It was truly her home.
Earlene did not have children but she always had one or two dogs. She loved them and treated them as her kids. She loved most all animals and volunteered for a time at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert.
Don and Earlene were both Christians from an early age and Earlene truly tried to live the life she professed. We trust that she is now with Don, her parents, her loving animals, and her Savior, in heaven.
Earlene was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. She is survived by: her brother, Marion "Guy" Greenlee and his wife Ines; her Aunt, Irma Kolstad; cousins Sheri Comaianni and husband Martin, Paulette Shires, Melissa Howard and husband Jeff; and her best friends from the desert, Laura and Michael Thomason of La Quinta.
To Earlene from your Brother:
Sis, thank you for the love you showed me all my life, even when I was difficult to love. I miss you more every day, especially all the discussions we didn't have the opportunity to have. I am sorry you had to leave, but I know you have no more pain, no more anxiety, and are with loved ones and our Lord.
I love you.
May God reward your faithfulness.
Earlene will be interred at Greenlawn Cemetery on March 12th. No services are planned, per her request.
