Walter "Bud" Leon Hand March 26, 1927 - June 18, 2013 Bud Hand, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. The cause was kidney failure. Bud was born on March 26, 1927 in Bakersfield. He was the younger of Josephine and Ted Hand's two sons. Bud loved horses, dogs, and the outdoors. He played sports and made many lifelong friends at Kern County Union High School. He met his wife Gloria in High School and they married May 30, 1947 when he was finishing his service in the Navy. Gloria and Bud had three children Dave, Mark and Shawna. Bud was an automobile dealer in Bakersfield as his father was before him. Bud loved entertaining, hunting fishing and golf. Bud's legacy was the value of love acted out rather than spoken, hard work, integrity and humor. Whether he was building something or helping a friend or family member, Bud's solutions were solid, complete, creative and based on his deep knowledge of right and wrong. Bud has gone on to join Gloria, their son Mark, his parents, his brother Ted, and many friends, all of whom he has missed. He will be missed by his son Dave (Debbie), daughter Shawna (Alan), grandchildren Nick, Hillarie (Shane) and Travis (Teri), great grandchildren Adam, Talia, Willow and Acacia, special friend Jacqueline Paulson, extended family and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the family, friends, neighbors and staff of Hoffman Hospice for their care, support and blessings.
