1954 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Wesley Kynion Jones Obituary
Wesley Kynion Jones August 13, 1954 - March 4, 2013 Wesley Kynion Jones, 58, of Bakersfield, CA, went home to be with his Eternal Father on March 4, 2013, after a courageous fight with cancer. Wesley loved his country and served in the United States Army from 1972 - 1980, when he was honorably discharged. Wesley had a passion and a calling for AWANA, a Christian ministry for children that he served in for 24 years. His most memorable times were going to Camp, officiating AWANA Games, and serving on the AWANA Ministry Board for Southern California and Nevada. He participated in Junior Theater and Black Gold Productions for many years. Once Wesley was diagnosed with cancer, he became an avid participant in Relay for Life, believing that there will someday be a cure. Wesley is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Gail; his two children, his daughter, Trina Marie and her two sons, Cameron Lane and Zachary Kenton; and his son, Kynion Ray and his wife, Heather Lynn and their three children, Abigayl Marie, Joshua Ray, and Kiara Annette; along with his mother, Alice Hovland; and sister, Sharon Craig of Texas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Ave., with a graveside service immediately following at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park. Pastor Roger Spradlin and Pastor Phil Neighbors will co-officiate. In lieu of flowers, Wesley has requested that toys be brought for the "Joy from Jaidyn" ministry that provides toys to Valley Children's Hospital in honor of his late granddaughter, Jaidyn Kiara. The family is eternally thankful for the care and support provided by Valley Baptist Church, CBCC, Aera Energy, Commercial Trade, Inc., and Optimal Health. The prayers and encouragement received continue to sustain and comfort the family. For condolences please visit www.greenlawnmortuaryandcemetery.com.
