Wilbur B. "Bill" Hylton
April 5, 1947 - April 7, 2018

Bill was born in Delano, California to Wilbur and Bernice Hylton. They lived in McFarland for a few years, before moving to Delano. While growing up, his parents' relatives and friends called him "Butch", because that's what his Dad always called him. He attended and graduated from Delano High School, went to Bakersfield College, then on to Fresno State where he attained his Bachelor's Degree. After graduating college, he was a fruit inspector for grapes in Delano, Arvin, and Lamont, then applied to the City of Delano. He started out at the Waste Water Treatment Plant and worked his way up to being the manager there, then Supervisor of the City's water and collection lines. He retired when having a medical problem, after working for the City 38 and a half years. He always said he started out having a job with the City, then it became his career and ultimately it was his passion. Bill was a devoted Christian, raised in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, attended The First United Methodist Church and The First Assembly of God Church, all in Delano. He was chairman of the Trustees at First United Methodist and saw to it that the buildings and grounds were always maintained. Bill collected and traded model and large scale trains since his childhood, loved classic rock music and enjoyed riding his motorcycles. Linda always enjoyed riding behind him on his bikes. Bill and Linda were married for 41 and a half years. He was admired and loved by all of her family in Bakersfield, Lompoc, Southern California, Oregon and Washington.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and uncles, and several cousins. He is survived by his wife, Linda, mother-in-law MarJean Stave, sisters-in-law Marian Stave, Kay Wallace and her family and Patricia Hanson and her family; Daughters and sons-in-law Marcy Ladd (Mark) and Ellen Robnett (Michael).
