William (Bill) Thomas Nunnelee, age 79, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at his home in Tehachapi, CA. Bill lived in Tehachapi for over 30 years and is survived by his wife, Charlene; and four children, Pam Reeves of Bakersfield, Terri Reuter of Napa, Mike Nunnelee of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Mark Nunnelee of Roseburg, Oregon. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, one brother, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Leora (Lytle) Nunnelee; one sister; and one grandson.
Bill was born in Hanford, CA. He was the firstborn of seven children and grew up in Three Rivers, California. At 17, he joined the USAF, at the end of the Korean War, and served for eight years. He raised his four children with his first wife, Beverly Nunnelee, and lived in Quartz Hill, California, from 1965 to 1984 before moving to Tehachapi in 1985. Bill was a patriot, a cowboy, a rancher, and enjoyed fishing, horseshoes, ping pong, and boating. Bill was a successful businessman, earning a living by working two jobs in banking, electronics, and real estate until he retired in 2010.
Services will be held at Wood Family Funeral Service, 321 W. F St., Tehachapi, CA 93561, (661) 822-6897: Visitation, Thursday, July 14, 2016, 5-7 p.m. Funeral, Friday, July 15, 2016, at 11:00 am, with a gathering on The Pavilion immediately following the interment.
