Young Tai Kim Obituary
Young Tai Kim, was born on February 15th, 1948 in Seoul, South Korea along with three older sisters. He joined our God in Heaven on February 17th, 2014 after a long fight against lung cancer. He leaves his loving wife Youngsook, Mother, two sisters, and two sons Paul and Peter as well as many friends and colleagues.
Young Kim immigrated to the United States and proudly became a naturalized citizen in the spring of 1985. Young realized his love for teaching at an early age and pursued his passion by becoming a college professor in Mathematics, Accounting, and Business Management. His teaching career began in Norman, Oklahoma, continued to Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, and eventually Porterville, California. Life ultimately brought him to Bakersfield where he retired as a Senior Auditor for Kern County. Young continued to teach children about God at the Bakersfield Korean Seventh Day Adventist Church and also devoted countless hours of his time volunteering to tutor high school students.
Young Kim devoted himself to serving his community and those in need as an active member of the Lions Club. He was a founding member of the Bakersfield Donghae Chapter and became the Charter President on June 21, 2012.
Young Kim loved to laugh and make others laugh; he loved God, his church, and family. He was a loving father and wonderful teacher not only in academics, but in life as well. He had such a passion for life and had touched so many along the way. He will be missed by us all.
The family will be holding a memorial service at the Bakersfield Korean Seventh Day Adventist Church and invite all of Young Kim's friends and colleagues to celebrate his life Wednesday, February 19th at 7:00 PM and Thursday, February 20th at 11:00 AM.
