James Lewis "Papa" Aldridge May 19, 1920 - October 24, 2012 James Lewis "Papa" Aldridge, 92, of Bakersfield, CA, went to heaven on Thursday, October 24th 2012. Papa was an incredible husband, father, and grandfather. A man of high integrity, he could never tell a lie. Children and babies were among his favorite people. Papa had a lifelong hobby of gardening, using innovative and creative methods producing amazing results. He was also a World War II veteran, installed in the 41st Infantry Division, 186th Regiment. Serving at the front lines in the Pacific arena, Papa was awarded the bronze star for heroic achievement in the Battle of Biak. Papa was married to the love of his life, Katherine Lou for 57 years. He has grieved and mourned her since her death in 2004. Above all, Papa was a man of God and a man of faith. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and served Him with all of his life and with all of his soul. Papa was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katherine Lou, by his three sons, John Edward, Paul Allen, and James Lewis Jr., and by his granddaughter Katherine Mary. Surviving are his daughters Pattie, Laura, and Vickie and grandchildren Cheryl, David, Joshua, Megan, Caleb, Phillip, Dan, Taylor, Tahni, Aaralyn, Kaiden, Bekah, Jack, Boone, Ami, Emily, Amanda, Brady, Tanya, Alex, Ella, Amanda, Steven, Katie, and Sean. A memorial service potluck is planned at the Bakersfield First Church of the Nazarene, 2801 Hughes Ln, Bakersfield, CA., 93304 at 10 o'clock on November 1st. www.bakersfield.com/obits
