Jerry Gentry was born on February 23, 1942, in Tennessee to Aubie Lee (Al) and Mary Gentry. Jerry passed away on December 19, 2007, in Bakersfield, CA, after a short and unexpected illness. Jerry worked at Bearing Specialty which later became Motion Industries for 34 years. He earned many Man of the Year awards during this time. He also worked at Coastal Engineering before going to work for Bearing Specialty. Jerry always had a quick smile and acknowledged that you were somebody. Jerry had polio when he was six years old, but it never held him back. He never complained, and was always eager to join in whatever was going on. Jerry graduated from North High School, class of 1960. He was president of his freshman class and editor of the school newspaper. Jerry was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and neighbor. Nothing pleased him more than for everyone to come to his and Carol's lovely home. Jerry loved working on and restoring his old cars and trucks. Jerry and Carol always went to all the car shows. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Aubie L. Gentry who passed away in 2005, and his brother, Harlis Gentry who passed away in 2000. Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol of 25 years; sons, Kenny Gentry (wife, Shauna), Dale Gentry (wife, Shawna); stepsons, Jeff Langston (Sheryll), Brian Langston; mother, Mary Gentry; brother, Doug Gentry (wife, Glena); sister, Joyce Baker; sister, Kathy Stymus (husband, Bill); grandchildren, Brandon, Mitchell (wife, Nicole), Brittany, Mikel, Stormi and Tempest Gentry, Tawni White; many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alan Baker, Jarrod Gentry, Jeff Keeney, Mike Keeney, Jim Penney and Greg Sceales. The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and staff in the ICU at San Joaquin Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to Jerry and how kind and compassionate they were to him and his family. And a special thanks to Chaplain Ric Johnson for his caring and compassion. Memorial service will be held Friday, December 28th, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, CA. Jerry will be missed by all who knew him. Jerry E.
