Geraldine Harris April 8, 1956 - January 4, 2011 Visitation is scheduled today from 1-7 p.m., in Jesse E. Cooley, Jr. Chapel for Geraldine Harris, 54, who passed away January 4, 2011. Service will be held Friday, January 14th, 1:00 p.m., in Liberty Missionary Baptist Church 210 Clifton Street. Interment to follow in Greenlawn S.W. Cemetery Geraldine Harris was the forth child born to Arthur and Dorothy Harris on April 8, 1956 in Silver City, New Mexico. Geraldine's family moved to Bakersfield, CA when she was 8 years old. She attended Sierra Jr. High and Foothill High School. Geraldine joined St. Emmanuel Baptist Church with her family and their fellowship was later moved to New First Community Baptist Church. Geraldine was first employed at McDonald's as a Manager for 4 years and as a Dietician Technician for Mercy Hospital for over 20 years. It was while working for Mercy Hospital she decided to become a Union Organizer for 7 years for SEIUUHW to assist the fair treatment of healthcare workers. She enjoyed her job and was passionate in her belief that she was helping others to improve the quality of their work environment. She was a tireless advocate for the underdog. She loved that picket line. Geraldine also loved being around happy and fun people. And she was a very creative in arts and crafts. Geraldine was a very loving Mother, Sister and Friend. Her sudden passing has affected the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Geraldine's father, Arthur C. Harris Sr.; mother, Dorothy A. Harris; brothers, Arthur F. Harris Jr., and Raymond T Harris, Sr.; one aunt, Myrtle L. Holmes-Wiggins; two uncles, Henry K. Holmes and James Holmes; and one sister-in-law, Mary A. Harris, preceded her in death. She leaved to cherish her memory her beloved son and and best friend, Elondro V. Pratt; two sisters, Elizabeth C. Astwood and husband Brian of Aztec, New Mexico, Kissieri R. Trevino and husband Michael of Bakersfield, CA; four brothers, Willie L. Harris and wife Cheryl, Robert L. Harris and fiance' Sharon both of Bakersfield, Ca., Murray J. Harris and wife Tina of Fremont, CA., and Archibald Harris of Seattle, Washington, and one special sister-in-law Alejandra N. Wilkerson, four nieces Tunisia M. Harris and fiance Tracey, Laveicia S. Harris and husband Andre, Sasha R. Harris, all of Bakersfield, CA, and Camille M. Harris of Fremont, CA; five nephews, Arthur J. Harris, Jared J. Harris, Michael A. Wilkerson and Raymond T. Harris, Jr., all of Bakersfield, CA, Jason W. Harris and wife Jennifer of Ann Arbor, MI, Starling A. Harris of Seattle WA, Julian B.
