Lizalde, who passed away on March 5, 2011. Carmen was born and raised in Bakersfield, California on May 30, 1926 to Juan and Mercedes Arriola. In 1942 she met Gilbert Lizalde and they married August 29, 1947. Carmen had three children; Carolyn, Gilbert Jr. and John Lizalde. She was a waitress for 30 years at the Hacienda and the Hill House. One of her fondest memories of waitressing was meeting John F. Kennedy. In her younger years Carmen enjoyed dancing, dressing up, crocheting, reading romance novels and traveling. She was well known for her many hobbies of shopping, decorating and spending time in her yard tending to her roses. As her family grew she loved spending time with family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Lakers, Dodgers and Raiders fan. She also enjoyed watching her novelas and listening to country music. Carmen will be remembered for her smile, her personality, her cooking and being a loving mother and grandmother. Carmen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Gilbert Lizalde; her grandson, Jimmy Birks; and brother, Arthur Arriola. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Raidor (and husband, Milan); son, Gilbert Lizalde, Jr. (and wife, Pennie); and son, John Lizalde; granddaughters, Michele Mazza (and husband, Joe), Jennifer DiGiacomo (and husband, Jack), Diane, Hannah, Michele and Mercedes Lizalde and Jillian Hogue; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Jamie Coffman and Karissa and Cole Mazza all of Bakersfield, California. She is also survived by her sister, Cesarita Yniguez; brother, Nick Savedra; numerous nieces and nephews, and good friend, Maggie McCully. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Life House Parkview Real for their care and compassion in our mother's time of need. www.bakersfield.com/obits
