Dallas McDonald Carson December 9, 1921 - July 3, 2011 Dallas McDonald Carson of Bakersfield, California, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2011, at home with his loving wife at his side. Dallas was born December 9, 1921 in Muldrow, Oklahoma, the son of William Earl Carson and Myrtle A. Dillie Gipson. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Boss, Johnny and Olen Carson. Dallas attended school and worked on the family farm in Hitchita, Oklahoma. During this time, Dallas met his sweetheart and love of his life, Margie (Six) Carson. Dallas and Margie were married on September 19, 1942 in Checotah, Oklahoma. Dallas proudly served his Country in the US Army from October 1942 to December 1945. He was assigned to the 10th Armored Division, 11th Tank Battalion. While deployed overseas, Dallas served as a medic in the Battle of the Bulge. Following his honorary discharge, Dallas and Margie moved to the San Joaquin Valley to try their hand at farming. Soon after, Dallas gained employment at Douglas Oil Refinery near Lamont, California. Dallas worked there for nineteen years before joining the Carpenter's Union as a Journeyman Carpenter. Dallas finished his career employed by the Kern County Parks and Recreation. While at County parks, Dallas assisted with the building of Buena Vista Lake and campground. Dallas enjoyed fishing with his long time friend and neighbor of over forty years, Harold Austin. Dallas was a member of the local Eagles. He looked forward to socializing at the Eagles Friday night steak dinners and playing pool at the hall during the week. Dallas loved to travel with his sweetheart Margie to State Line on the weekends and play in slot tournaments. Most of all, Dallas' greatest fulfillment in life came from being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never passed up an opportunity to spend time with family. Dallas was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend to all who knew him. When you were greeted by Dallas, it was always with a warm smile that made everyone around him feel special. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margie V. (Six) Carson; Sister, Ines Cravens of Mojave, California; Sister, Earlene Carson of Oklahoma; Son, John Dallas Carson and wife Joann of Calera, Oklahoma; Son, Earl McDonald Carson of Bakersfield, California; Grandchildren, John Dallas Carson, Jr. and wife, Connie of Murfreesboro, Tenessee; Lisa-Jeanette (Carson) Farris of Arvin, California; Chad Erick Carson and wife, Kim of Bakersfield, California; Adrianne Marie (Carson) Mills and husband, Ron Mills of Bakersfield, California; Ericka Ranae (Carson) Redfeairn and husband Ricky Redfeairn of Bakersfield, California. Fifteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. A service for Dallas McDonald Carson will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, California. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A heartfelt thanks to Ron and Karla Cope, Bob and Judy Mann, Doyle andFaye Wheat and the Knotty Pine restaurant. Dallas loved all of you like family. Your love and generosity will never be forgotten.
