Rosie Saucido Garza Obituary
Rosie Saucido Garza 1927 - 2012 Born on December 19, 1927 in Peoria, Arizona, Rosie was raised by her grandparents Angelita and Albert Lopez. Rosie passed away September 24, 2012 in Bakersfield, California. Rosie Garza was many things to her family, The Monarch, the back-bone, the leader, our teacher. Words to describe her would be loving, caring, giving and kind. She never focused our on faults, but loved each and everyone of her family for who they were. She was strong, independent in a time when most women were not, and feisty. Rosie only stood 4 ft 11 inches tall, but would take on the world if she believed she could. She was a lady of beauty, class, style and respect. Her theory in life was "You never leave the house without your hair and makeup done because you never know who'll run into." And she always wanted to be ready. Rosie was involved with many things in the community, which she was very proud of. She was President of the Mexican American Women's Club (she loved being in charge of the parades and dances), a translator for the Kern County Courts, she was a regular on the Spanish radio talk shows and volunteered at San Joaquin Community Hospital. Rosie was even elected as Woman of the Year for all her work in the community, but her greatest accomplishment besides her family were her tamales. Rosie had accomplished many things in her life, probably more than one person, especially a woman ever would, but her tamales were truly amazing. The day before she passed Rosie was having a good day. Her grandchildren asked "Grandma, are you ready to tell us your secret for the tamales?" Rosie smiled and said "One day." and laughed. Rosie will be remembered in many different ways. Each special to everyone that knew her and her Estee Laudar smell. She was a tiny lady who had a powerful impact on all of us. Rosie is now with the love of her life, her husband Rosendo Garza and daughter Terri Rodriguez. She survived by daughter's Isabel Ortiz, Molly Gardea, husband Joe and Debbie Hernandez. Son's Raymond, wife Mary, Joseph and Richard Garza. Grandchildren Barney, Tracy, Gilbert, Benny, Roy, Jenny, Amberly, Nicholas, Christopher and their spouses. 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A special aunt to Angie and Lee Lara. Rosary will be held Thursday, September 27, 2012 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 1515 Baker Street, Bakersfield, Ca. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. reception to follow. www.bakersfield.com/obits
