Jose "Joe" Gonzales Jr. October 3, 1945- February 19, 2013 Jose "Joe" Gonzales Jr., 67, On February 20, 2013, our angel was called back to heaven. Born in El Paso, Texas, to Jose and Maria Gonzales in 1945. Joe graduated from Casa Grande Union High School in 1963. In 1967, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Joe served during the Vietnam War earning a Purple Heart. While in the Marines, he met the love of his life Irma Saavedra. After six months, they wed in 1970 and were married 43 wonderful years. Joe worked as a fabrication welder in the agricultural industry. He was employed at Mc Clusky Machinery, WM Bolthouse Farms, and Boyd and Boyd throughout his Career. Joe's love of family was always the reason for his happiness, spending countless hours with his wife, children and grandchildren. Joe was a hero to everyone he knew. His generosity was a quality that distinguished him from others. Joe was truly an angel sent from heaven. Joe will truly be missed by his family and friends who loved him dearly. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Jose Sr. and mother, Maria. He is survived by his wife, Irma; sons, Jose II (wife Nicole), Eric (wife Sarah) and Mark (wife Jayla) and nine grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Ted, Ricardo, Gustavo and Cecilia; sisters in law, Catalina, Rachel, Connie, Berta, Barbara , and Rosie with many nieces and nephews. A Rosary/Mass for Joe will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Bakersfield National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. For additional information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200.
