He passed away and left our loving arms on September 4, 2013 in Bakersfield, CA at the age of 84 to enter eternal life. Our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother will be deeply missed. Jesse traveled the world as a drilling superintendent for several major oil companies and after retirement he worked as a regional manager for Pinkerton Security. Jesse was an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt, ride horses, RV camp and raise livestock on his property and you could always find him watching a western movie or cheering on his favorite baseball team, the Anaheim Angels. Jesse was very proud of serving his country as a Private in the Army Air Corps and earning his high school GED at the age of 60. He was also a member of the Taft Oddfellows. Jesse is survived by three sisters, Mozelle Connick, Wanda Miller and Ollie Mae Curry; three sons, Allan Baxter, Steven Baxter and Stewart Baxter and one daughter, Donna Cardell; nine grandchildren, Mark and Michael Baxter, Shawna Cardell-Miller, Matthew Cardell, Amanda, Andrew and Austin Baxter and Vanessa and Lisa Johnson; and seven great-grandchildren, Nathan, Nicole, Brittany, Ian, Badri, Samuel and Zachary. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jesse is also survived by his blended family of 40 years, step-daughters Mary Lou Sneed and Margaret Ward; five grandchildren, Angela Drake, Allyson Sneed, Stephany Martin, Eric James and Andrew Ward; and seven great-grandchildren, Kymbra, Baker, Sadie, Jakob, Jessianne, Roselyn, and Ryland. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Evelyn Baxter. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Mortuary and Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., followed by a memorial reception at his home.
