Lloyd Earl Dickey 1946 - 2013 Lloyd "Hawk" Dickey passed away September 2nd, after a brief battle with cancer. Lloyd was born March 3, 1946 in Bakersfield to Earl and Marie Dickey. He attended South High, Bakersfield College and Idaho State all the while excelling in the game of baseball. He taught at various schools until he found a home at his Alma Mater, South High. He taught English, coached baseball and touched many young lives in the classroom and on the field. During his later years he enjoyed hunting with his friends and brother. Lloyd leaves behind his wife, Kathy, of 40 years; his sons Brian and wife Penny, Ty, Darrin and wife Mandi; his daughters Jessica Jackson and husband Ryan and Teresa; his brother and hunting partner Chester Dickey and wife Penny; along with many nieces and nephews. Nothing brought him more pleasure than his seven grandchildren Josh Dickey, Cheyenne Dickey, Mackenzie Dickey, Lanie Jackson, Kaleb Dickey, Jacob Dickey and Andrew Dickey. Special thanks to Katie and Bertha at Mercy Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lloyd E. Dickey Baseball Scholarship Fund at Kern Schools Federal Credit Union. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 6th at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7th at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd. Service will be officiated by Jade Molina. www.bakersfield.com/obits
