J.B. Turner June 5, 1924 - September 24, 2013 J.B. Turner, 89, passed away after a brief illness. J.B. was born in Minco, OK to parents Richard and Irene Turner. He served aboard the CV-6 USS Enterprise, surviving numerous encounters with Japanese naval forces and being honorably discharged as an Aviation Paintersmate 2nd Class. After the war he married his first wife, Lois Siebert, having two children, Glenn and Joanna. On May 29, 1970 he married and spent the rest of his life with his loving wife Vee, they raised one daughter, Stacey Stanley. J.B. was a licensed pilot for some sixty five years, owning and flying many planes while working for the Kern County Airport (Meadows Field) for thirty two years. J.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Irene Turner. Survived by wife Varlene; children, Glenn Turner (Julie), Joanna Estrada, Stacey Stanley (Rob); four stepchildren; grandchildren, Nicholas Turner (Christina), Corey Garberolio (Kirk), Tommy Estrada (Rachael), Richard Estrada (Cindy), Gunnar Stanley; and fourteen great grandchildren; a special niece, Donna Bolton (Ray); and many friends, especially "the Guys at the airport." Graveside services will be conducted at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, October 1, at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the VFW. www.bakersfield.com/obits
