Daniel Chance

Dan Chance, 92, on March 11, 2014 at his home in Timonium. Dan was first and foremost a devoted husband and father. He had a heart of gold and was a dependable and steadying influence on those around him. Born in Clayton, NJ just prior to the great depression, Dan prided himself on building his successful life from the ground up, starting with very little and creating a safe and comfortable environment for his wife and children. He honorably served his country as a Major in the US Army in World War II as well as 2 decades of Reservist service. Following the war, he proudly landed a job at Gulf Oil Corp. where he successfully worked primarily as a Sales Engineer until his retirement more than 35 years later. Dan was an avid baseball player in high school and was recently elected to his high school's baseball Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed the Jersey shore, golfing and boating with his buddies in his later years. Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Nancy and his 3 children Cynthia, Kimberly and Stephen as well as 4 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held this Saturday March 15 at 2:00pm at the Towson United Methodist Church where Dan was a long-time member and Sunday school teacher.
