SSG James ALEXANDER III



ALEXANDER, III , SSG James On Saturday, August 17, 2013, SSG (Ret.) James Alexander, III, 56 of 5829 Fellow Street, Columbus, GA passed at St. Francis Hospital. SSG. Alexander was born on October 11, 1956 in Baltimore, MD, son of James Alexander, Jr. and Doris Jacobs Alexander. After graduation, James enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country. His first assignment was to the Republic of Panama where he met the love of his life, Cecilia Teresa Walters. From the fruit of this union, they were blessed with three children, Dominique, Alan, and Alisha. After 20 years of honorable service to the Army, James began working for the Department of Corrections in the state of Georgia. His first assignment was at Macon State Prison in Oglethorpe, GA. James later transferred to Rutledge state prison in Columbus, GA and was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and shift supervisor. James is survived by his wife, Cecilia; sons, Dominique and Alan (Precious); daughter, Alisha; mother, Doris; sisters, Sandra and Diane; nephews, Warren and Jalil; and grandchildren, Alana and Alan, Jr.; and several other loving relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the Rose Hill Chapel of Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, 2919 Hamilton Road, Columbus, GA with Reverend Lawrence Stewart officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Green Acres Cemetery.
